Presentation
Giovanni's escape from the penal colony has failed. But in a way, he is lucky in his misfortune. Summoned by the steward Ibrahim, he recounts his entire adventure, from his dispatch to the galleys of Venice. Impressed by his story, Ibrahim takes him on as his personal slave and quickly becomes friends with him. Although they do not share the same religion, the two men share a love of knowledge and learn a lot from each other. But very quickly, their friendship fuels the anger of those who consider Christians to be infidels, and Giovanni soon finds himself back in the hell of prison. Luck will not smile on him for long.
