Presentation

This book recounts the extraordinary adventure I experienced with hundreds of children across the French-speaking world, from Paris to Montreal, by way of Molenbeek, Abidjan, Pézenas, Geneva, Mouans-Sartoux, Corsica, and Guadeloupe. Why, indeed, wait until the final year of high school to address existential questions such as love, respect, happiness, the meaning of life, and emotions? The philosophy workshops I lead reveal children's astonishing capacity for thought. Beyond concepts, they learn the rules of intellectual debate and develop their discernment and personal reflection.

Because children often have difficulty concentrating, I precede the workshops with a short meditation, or mindfulness practice, which allows everyone to regain their sensory receptivity and be present in the moment.

For all those—parents, teachers, educators—who wish to guide children in this practice of mindfulness and philosophical workshops, this book offers a method and concrete tools, including a CD of guided meditations. FL
