MONTREAL (Canada): Conference "The Odyssey of the Sacred"

Conference
« The Odyssey of the Sacred »

Since its emergence, Homo sapiens has felt both awe and wonder at the power of Nature and pondered the enigma of its existence. From this sense of the sacred arose all the great spiritual and religious movements of the world.
Why is sapiens also a Homo spiritus: the only animal that seeks to give meaning to its life, practices funeral rituals, invents grand collective narratives, and often believes in invisible forces?

In this lecture, Frédéric Lenoir will attempt to answer these essential questions and will show the correlation between the great spiritual revolutions and the upheavals of human societies: the transition from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic (sedentarization), the birth of ancient civilizations, the development of empires, modernity and the contemporary era.

A book signing will follow the conference
